Testimonials

"West Elmwood was there for me in my time of need.  In an economy where low interest rates and a good credit score means happiness, West Elmwood educated me on finding my happiness.  They taught me that I have the power to change my financial situation through careful budgeting, planning, and knowing and communicating with all my lenders.  I appreciate West Elmwood for caring and believing in me, especially in a time where I didn't believe in myself.  Thank you West Elmwood for all your help!"

"As a new home owner and landlord, I am committed to being responsive and responsible. I was glad when I was referred to West Elmwood Housing. I was starting to wonder if I hadn’t gotten in over my head with the work I had begun. West Elmwood Housing’s expertise went beyond construction, it turned out they had certified lead inspectors and supervisors on staff! Immediately I learned that unknowingly, even with the best of inventions, the work that I was doing was not compliant from a lead perspective. Derek and his team stepped in to coordinate and conduct the work. Today I have two quality units that are certified lead safe. The West Elmwood and the DuPont demonstration project was a Godsend!"

Letters from a clients:

Dear Sharon,

I’m writing to you today regarding the modification to my mortgage through your company. I have worked at my job in Providence, RI for six years and have gotten laid off each year due to lack of work. This year I was let go in March. I did collect Unemployment benefits, but the amount I collected was over $100 less per week, and over $500 less per month.  As you can imagine, this decrease in pay will cause finances to diminish.

After being late with mortgage payments on a monthly basis, I was referred to a few organizations to help modify my loan. I was denied assistance from everyone, except the West Elmwood Corporation. I met with Housing Counselor, Dianne Waddell, and action was immediately taken.  At the time that I met with Dianne, I was extremely nervous because I was receiving notice of acceleration on my home. As a single parent I was very nervous of my daughter & I being displaced.

Dianne worked diligently with me and my bank to rectify this situation. She faxed all documents requested, swiftly followed up with their representatives, and put my mind at ease because of her caring and professional demeanor.  I am now part of a modification program and my mortgage is more affordable. I have made payments on time and no longer am in jeopardy of losing my home, thanks to Dianne and West Elmwood Housing. I just wanted to take this time to thank you and your company but most of all, I hope that Dianne Waddell gets the recognition that she deserves for her hard work and perseverance in this matter.

Sincerely,
D.M.

Dear Jared L. Rhodes,

Through this letter I would like to express my appreciation to West Elmwood Neighborworks Home Ownership Center for all their help. Especially to Dianne Waddell, who offered me orientation and guided me step by step in my process of modification.

I had a full time job, and other income, until the day my hours at work were reduced. On top of that I was not receiving extra income for some time. It was at that moment that I was not able to make my mortgage payments. Given my difficult situation, I felt the need to seek help with this matter. I did not want to lose my house. I attempted to get help at Rhode Island Housing on two occasions. Unfortunately, they were not able to give me the help I needed. One day I received a list in the mail of agencies that help homeowners with the modification process. I continued my efforts to keep ownership of my house and I chose one of the agencies from the list. The agency I chose was West Elmwood Neighbor Works Home Ownership Center. I called and made an appointment. The day of my appointment I met with Dianne Waddell, who from that very moment on worked very hard on my modification process. I followed everything she told me to do with explicit detail. We kept continuous contact throughout the process.

Thanks to the hard work we both did, we achieved the modification of my mortgage. It was a long process, but thanks to West Elmwood and Dianne Waddell, now I continue to live in my home.

I hope that West Elmwood continues to help home owners who are going through a similar situation as mine.

Sincerely,

Luz Feliciano
